Who Owns Guinness Nigeria?

Short answer: Tolaram. The Singapore-based conglomerate behind Indomie bought Diageo's 58% majority in Guinness Nigeria in 2025; Diageo still owns the Guinness brand itself.

Guinness Nigeria is owned by Tolaram — the same Singapore-based conglomerate behind Indomie noodles. In June 2024, Tolaram agreed to buy Diageo's 58.02% majority stake in Guinness Nigeria, and the sale completed on 3 March 2025 1.

Diageo didn't walk away entirely: it kept ownership of the Guinness brand and licensed it back to Guinness Nigeria long-term 2 — so the trademark stays British while the Nigerian business changes hands.

It's a telling ownership shuffle: a British multinational hands the operating company to a foreign-owned conglomerate that already controls Indomie, Nigeria's default noodle — and keeps the brand licence and its royalties. Nigerian institution, foreign owners on both sides of the deal. Tracked in Who's Buying Africa.
